One of the best ways to improve your online poker game and to start moving up stakes quickly is to learn to read your opponents. More often than not, you can be relatively successful just playing your own cards and disregarding your opponents at lower levels. But, the higher you go, the more you have to focus on your opponents and readying their hands.
In reality, there is no possible way to read your opponents cards exactly. It is not like your goal is to call out their cards, you just want to be able to put them on a range of cards. If you know the hands that they play and what their tendencies are, it is not that difficult.
Start by observing what cards are revealed at the end if each hand. If you know what hands your opponents are playing, you can extrapolate that information and put them on a range of cards for the hand you are examining. Then, you can start to eliminate possible hand combinations, and before you know it, you have a range of hands that your opponent is probably playing.
With this information, it is a lot easier to make better decisions and maximize the amount of correct plays you make. This skill takes a while to learn and takes constant practice, but once you implement it into your game, you will make a lot more money and your game will progress faster then you thought possible.
